thesis / dissertation description
The City and County of Denver has not successfully improved its long-term sustainable building code outcomes. This project utilizes a case study approach, comparing the City and County of Denver's integration of the United States Green Building Council LEED criteria to the cities of Boulder and Fort Collins building programs. The analysis shows that by implementing at the municipal level, the City and County of Denver continues to fall short compared to Boulder and Fort Collins' programs, which have successfully implemented the municipal, residential, and commercial levels of building code enforcement. The City and County of Denver would benefit from updating its sustainable building codes at the residential and commercial levels of enforcement, while maintaining the municipal building code requirements.
