Political campaigns are based on communication sciences. The candidate and his campaign organization are the source of the message. The intent of this message is to produce a cognitive or affective change in the electorate or receivers ultimately-producing a behavioral outcome -- to vote for a particular candidate. The communication channels used to diffuse this intent are interpersonal and mass media. PollĀ­ing and the final results of elections are the mechanisms of feedback.
