Article Description

Formation of the mixed bis(perthiobenzoato)dithiobenzoato - Tc(III) heterocomplex [Tc(SCPh)(SCPh)] (1) is achieved via reduction-substitution reactions of excess dithiobenzoate piperidinium salt with labile high-valent [Tc(O)Cl] or [Tc(N)Cl] precursors. Partial oxidation of the ligand affords a coordination sphere that is totally filled by sulfur donor atoms of different nature. Hence, the combination of π-donor and π-acceptor sulfurs produces a peculiar distorted octahedral environment characterized by the substitution-inert metal fragment [Tc(SCPh)] and the substitution-labile dithiobenzoato coligand.
