A ceramic bi-layer, owing to its porosity, long wavelength infrared (LWIR) Christiansen effect, and Reststrahlen band behavior, exhibits a near-ideal solar reflectance (R > 0.99) and a high selective LWIR emittance (e) without the use of any metal backings.
