Review Description

Metformin, an insulin sensitizer widely used for the treatment of patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus (DM), was recentiy introduced in the clinical practice to treat women widi polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The aim of the current review was to evaluate the current role of metformin in the treatment of the PCOS-related disorders. The Authors analyze here the administration of metformin for treating the ovarian dysfunction due to PCOS, and show the evidences available in literature regarding its alternative uses.
