This thesis deals with the study of the factors affecting the movement of the stock prices of different real estate companies listed in the property sector of the Philippine Stock Exchange for the years 1997-2004. The discussion is mostly focused on the key economic rates: foreign exchange rates, domestic interest rates, and inflation rates, and foreign direct investments and corporate performance ratios: price to earnings ratio, earnings per share growth, return on equity, current ratio and debt to equity ratio that might affect the changes of the stock price movement. The statement of the problem for this study is which of the selected key economic rates and corporate performance ratios have a significant effect in the common stock prices of the selected real estate companies listed in the property sector of Philippine Stock Exchange for the years 1997-2004.The aim of this thesis is to provide a unified and readily implementable framework for the movement of stock prices and the factors affecting it in the real estate industry. The thesis covers both theoretical and empirical aspects. This thesis also made use of regression models to arrive at certain conclusion that would answer all the hypotheses.
