Cavite City's open dumpsite, located in Barangay Bagong Pook, San Antonio (beside Cavite City Public Cemetery) was one of the 8 open dumpsites that were forced to shut down in compliance with Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act in December 2016. This 0.1 ha open dumpsite is home to 1,700 families, second largest to Barangay Pulo.This photo essay project attempts to visually explore the socio-economic life of the 1,700 families living in, and making a living out of the wasteland. It focuses on their hopes and aspirations, threats and opportunitiies for a better life.Through this study, the researcher will give faces to predicament of many people affected by garbage.
