This letter, dated February 17, 1954, from United States (US) Senator William Langer to Glenn Emmons, Commissioner of the US Bureau of Indian Affairs, makes reference to an enclosed letter Langer received from Joseph Packineau of Elbowoods, North Dakota, on the Forth Berthold Reservation, in which Packineau asks Langer to do what he can to see that Ralph W. Shane is appointed the new Superintendent of the Fort Berthold Indian Agency.
