Abraham Wingrove Receives National Outstanding Student Award

University of North Dakota School of Law student Abraham Wingrove ('11) was recently honored with receipt of the Outstanding Student Award. Each year, the Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA), the national professional organization of clinic professors, bestows this award to recognize students who have excelled in a clinical course. Wingrove was enrolled in UND's Housing & Employment Law Clinic during both semesters of the 2010-2011 academic year.The award is given to students who demonstrate a high level of distinction in their Law Clinic studies, excelling in both the practice and the classroom components. Criteria for the award require students to show initiative, skilled written and oral advocacy, and commitment to the needs of under-served clients. Students selected for this honor also must exhibit exceptional preparation for and participation in their Law Clinic seminar class. Award recipients are selected by Law Clinic faculty and approved by the CLEA awards committee.Wingrove excelled in all aspects of the Law Clinic course, representing individual and organizational clients in housing discrimination cases that involved nationally significant, unsettled issues in disability law.Wingrove earned a Juris Doctorate from UND School of Law in May of 2011. He interned at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) during the summer of 2009. Wingrove earned a B.A. in Philosophy, with a minor in Political Science, from Boise State University in 2008.
