Lecture / Presentation Description

Jim Kaste is a geochemist who studies how processes at the earth’s surface are affected by human activities and global change. Jim uses natural and artificial radioactive tracers to quantify sediment and water transport rates in soils and watersheds. In this presentation he discusses his new measurements of a naturally-occurring but rare radioactive isotope of sodium in rainfall, groundwaters, and streams as away to develop it as a dating tool for hydrologic systems
