Thesis / Dissertation Description

The investigation which is reported in this thesis marked the beginning of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Unit Test-Demonstration farm project in Nebraska. This project involves a five year study in which there is to be at least one Test-Demonstration farm for each of the ten major soil-type areas in the State of Nebraska. This thesis is a report of a study involving the first two farms in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Unit Test-Demonstration program in Nebraska. The hypothesis of this study is that the present organization and resource use of the two farms studied does not return the maximum profit. It is hypothesized that an organization other than the present organization will maximize profits. There are four objectives of this study. They are as follows:(1) To establish bench mark information for each farm at the beginning of the project.Since this study was the beginning of the five-year Unit Test-Demonstration project, a bench mark is needed as a starting point against which progress accomplished during the next five years can be measured.(2) To make an analysis of the present farm organizations.(3) To develop maximum profit organizations for each farm.(4) To make recommendations in regard to changes needed to achieve increased profits.Advisor: Glen Vollmar
