Why So Serious? Using Creative Humor to Engage Students

Teaching complicated concepts can be challenging in the classroom. How do you keep your attendees interested and participating in the coursework so they truly gain usable knowledge from the class? Using creative humor can be an effective way to engage students. Incorporating appropriate comedy promotes an active learning environment and a sense of community in the classroom. This presentation continues the work of IAAO’s Education Committee to provide continuing education and ideas for its instructors at conferences but this is not just for instructors, it is for anyone who wants to be more effective getting their ideas across to others.
