The speakers will present case studies on collaborations and arrangements made with donors and others to bring in and develop collections with statewide, national and international significance. The title Strangers in a Strange Land (referencing Robert A. Heinlein science fiction book) connotes an image of Special Collections staff operating in a strange world of publicists, attorneys, and literary rights executors, while donors and their representatives must operate in an unfamiliar world of research libraries with their requirements. Featured collections include the Michael and Margaret B.
