Letter Description
This handwritten letter, dated May 26, 1858, is written from Carl Schurz in Watertown to M. M. Davis in Portage City, Wisconsin. The letter speaks of Schurtz's opinion of congressional nomination, his refusal to allow personal differences with a particular person to interfere with political actions, and contemplates other aspects of the nominations. A yellow envelope addressed to Hon. M. M. Davis in Porage City, Wisconsin is included. A description page from Signature House is included with the letter and envelope.
