La sociedad actual, heredera de la cultura androcéntrica desarrollada a lo largo de los siglos en el mundo occidental, mantiene y representa de forma cotidiana antiguos arquetipos femeninos instalados en el subconsciente colectivo a través no solo de las imágenes proyectadas por la sociedad visual, sino de la cultura hipervisual del siglo XXI, la cual favorece la pervivencia y transmisión de antiguas iconografías femeninas que fueron creadas desde una perspectiva androcéntrica. La mitología clásica se ha convertido en un pilar iconográfico referencial de las identidades femeninas donde las mujeres se ven representadas, a la vez que subsiste una falsa identidad que forma parte de un “moderno” imaginario sociocultural y que paradójicamente proviene de una “antigua” sociedad patriarcal perpetuada a través de las reminiscencias iconográficas de la cultura clásica en la sociedad contemporánea.
