Suicide is a major public health problem with limited pharmacological options to treat acute risk. Every 40 seconds someone in the world commits suicide, WHO says. Lately, the dissociative anaesthetic Ketamine, has been studied as a potential short-acting treatment for suicidal ideations. Although promising, the available literature is still inconclusive.
