thesis / dissertation description
In “Wanderingland,” a whimsical blend of creative nonfiction, poetry, and comics, Lindsay Petrie illustrates her life from early childhood to young adulthood. With young adult readers in mind, the collection tackles complex issues such as bullying, social anxiety and self-acceptance. “Wanderingland” also chronicles the evolution of Petrie’s friendships from elementary school to college, explaining how these relationships shifted and grew over approximately two decades. From galloping on the playground as unicorns to navigating the sting of long-distance, this coming-of-age memoir explores what happens when innocence meets hardship and when hardship meets loyalty.
