As an investment of resources, systems engineering ultimately aids in developing coherent, optimized, and traceable design. Developing a satellite requires complex organization and coordination. The successful program involves active communication between subsystems, something to which the system modeling language is well tailored. Managing these complexities and collaborative aspects effectively on a systems level was a goal, thereby maximizing the support provided to engineering teams. Developing a contextual understanding of subsystems to facilitate healthy communication likewise permitted the use of CORE to decompose requirements, functions, and hardware. The production of subsystem-tailored documentation, including website accessibility of modeling charts and design budgets, was used as a resource to aid in the verbal communication of design elements and concerns. With continued database updates, the resulting traceability enables quick review of development aspects and is anticipated to show clearly the impact of updated and revised requirement documents.
