Korus is passionate about economics research and provided matching support for the top two economics research proposals, awarding faculty an additional $7,000 each toward their research projects. The committee charged with reviewing proposals, rated Simlai and Yang’s highest among all economics-related proposals. Simlai’s proposed project is titled, “Innovations in state variables, stock return predictability, and cross-section of expected returns." Yan’s proposed project is titled, "How do marriage market sex ratios affect formation and Dissolution of marriages?”
