artifact description
The development of the ribosome facilitated the transition from an RNA world to our modern biological systems. Magnesium ions played a crucial role in the early stages of ribosomal development due to their ability to facilitate folded 3D RNA structures that led to novel RNA functions. These ions are still present in modern day systems and play a key role in modern biology.
