article description
"Focus on Human Resources" piece on a study released in February that quantifies the economic impact that domestic violence offenders have on their workplaces. Conducted by the Maine Department of Labor and Portland-based Family Crisis Services, the study found numerous implications in terms of productivity, workplace safety issues and financial costs. The survey interviewed 152 male domestic violence offenders and found that seventy-eight percent reported using workplace resources at least once to intimidate their partners. Ellen Ridley-Hooper of Family Crisis Services says companies have an ethical obligation to institute domestic violence policies. Details.
