Macrophages aid in the repair of skeletal muscle post-injury. The cells achieve this by producing a variety of growth factors, causing an increase in permeability among other processes. The mechanism that we focus on is endothelial permeability. To view permeability, we inject Evans blue dye into the bloodstream, which binds to the protein albumin. When albumin is present there is a change in color in the organ or injured area that is being examined. The purpose of this study is to present a timeline of endothelial permeability post skeletal muscle injury and examine differences in endothelial permeability during repair for mice of different ages and sex.
