thesis / dissertation description
Many explanations have been given for the causation of stuttering. One explanation states that stuttering is peculiar to those persons who exhibit physiological differences from "normals." Several studies have indicated a possible relationship between stuttering and increased heart rate. In a recent study, Arnold J. Golub suggested that a scientific investigation of changes in heart rate in the severe stutterer be pursued. It is the Golub proposal which serves as the motivation for this thesis.
