data description
As well as producing a wide range of sounds, the piano is an object of natural graphic appeal, displaying qualities such as symmetry, and repetition with variation - universal design principles underlying composition in any medium. In this series, the piano has been sampled both aurally and visually. The fourth sound track in a series of sound files produced as part of PhD thesis, titled 'Intermedia Frottage: visual representation of music & aural representation of image'.In addition to being sounded, images have been used as graphic filters to shape white and coloured noise waveforms. The sound files are in a compressed format, and the full fidelity audio CD is available for loan with the exegesis from Southern Cross University Library (or from the creator). Similarly, the imagery is not available on the website collection, but a DVD or imagery is also available for loan with the exegesis from Southern Cross University Library (or from the creator).
