Hollow ball sculpture made with a polypropoline rope and a bronze cast. To produce the hollow sphere, a plaster case of a styrofoam ball was filled with a plaster and sand mixture used for making the casting molds. . Once the 'core mold' was created it was covered with a thin sheet of wax. The rope was attachted to the wax ball by partly melting the wax with a bernzomatic torch. There are 4" core pins of iron that are 2" into the ball. When the wax and rope burned away in the kiln, the internal core ball could not move out of place. The ball is mounted over a marble base in which a single bronze rod was set so the ball could be balanced on the rod and can rotate .
