Massive two-flavor (Formula presented) is known to have many similarities to two-flavor (Formula presented) Here we compare the (Formula presented) scattering amplitudes (actually an analog process in (Formula presented)) of the two theories. The (Formula presented) amplitude is computed from the bosonized version of the model while the (Formula presented) amplitude is computed from an effective low energy chiral Lagrangian. A number of interesting features are noted. For example, the contribution of the two-dimensional Wess-Zumino-Witten term in (Formula presented) is structurally identical to the vector meson exchange contribution in (Formula presented) Also it is shown that the (Formula presented) amplitude computed at the tree level is a reasonable approximation to the known exact strong coupling solution. © 1999 The American Physical Society.
