Article Description

Abstract Immobility hypercalcemia is a rare diagnosis of exclusion that requires thorough evaluation. We present a case of hospitalized patient in Hospital General de México who on day 90 of hospitalization started acute hypercalcemia, with a low response to hyperhydration. During the approach, other causes of hypercalcemia with normal to low parathormone and vitamin D were excluded. The increase in serum calcium levels was sudden from 8.89 mg/dL to 13.05 mg/dL in 48 hours, which supports the diagnosis. He was treated with hyperhydration with crystalloid solutions and zoledronic acid, normalizing 72 hours after administration.
