This chapter introduces crystallography, design, and synthesis of two-dimensional metastable-phase oxides. The prediction of 2D metastable-phase oxides is first introduced. The 2D metastable-phase oxides, such as noble metal oxides and non-noble metal oxides, are mainly summarized. The covalent bond behavior in metastable-phase 1T metal oxides is finally summarized.
