The production of PrPSc-specific antibodies has proven challenging, but much has been learned since the production of the first PrPSc-specific antibody in 1997 by Korth and colleagues. Some of the challenges that have been overcome, and the novel approaches that have been applied over the past 15 years will be reviewed and presented in this summary of prion immunology.
