Book Chapter Description

Arthroscopic release of the stiff shoulder is a common procedure in shoulder surgery. Many factors can affect the outcome of this procedure during pre-operative planning, during surgery, as well as post-operatively. Influencing factors may be modifiable through thorough pre-operative planning and patient diagnosis, a correctly and safely performed procedure as well as an appropriate peri-operative setting and post-operative treatment. Other influencing factors, however, are non-modifiable. These need to be assessed and patients counselled accordingly to avoid patient dissatisfaction with the procedure. In this chapter, we will discuss potential complications of frozen shoulder release and discuss tips and tricks to avoid them.
