Book Chapter Description
PediatricF-FDG PET/CT, and more recently PET/MR imaging, have undergone tremendous evolution in the last decade. While general imaging guidelines are similar in adults and children, special care is needed in the latter group to ensure optimal examination quality while minimizing potential adverse effects, including dose optimization for both radiopharmaceutical activity and CT parameters, use of sedation when appropriate, and adequate patient preparation. Clinical indications are very different from those in adults, as cardiovascular disease is infrequent in children, and mostly related to congenital heart disease, infection evaluation, as well as viability studies in Kawasaki disease or anomalous coronaries.
