Conference Paper Description

Traditional means of heritage conservation, replication, and restoration have many drawbacks, 3D scanning, and 3D printing technology can avoid secondary damage in the conservation and restoration of cultural relics, and more efficient replication of cultural relics, this paper combines the above technologies to achieve the purpose of more convenient and effective conservation of cultural relics. Using 3D scanning to quickly obtain information about the artifacts, after data processing to get a model of the artifacts and their fragments, through the software automatically stitching and analysis of the stitching data, reasonable stitching of all the fragments to get the missing information. The missing parts are virtually reconstructed in the software by analyzing the shape, structure, and other information of the artifacts to get a 3D model and perform the virtual restoration. After getting the result of the complete fitting, the fragments are 3D printed and finally, the actual restoration operation is carried out. By using 3D scanning to get information on cultural relics without contact and 3D printing the fragment model for cultural relics restoration, on the one hand, we can avoid the secondary damage of cultural relics or even multiple damages, on the other hand, we can improve the accuracy and efficiency of cultural relics restoration, and carry out the protection and restoration of cultural relics more safely and effectively.
