10.6 Conclusions: Congenital and developmental abnormalities influencing life are rare. They mainly consist of pectus deformities, sternal fusion abnormalities and clavicular pseudoarthrosis. The most life-threatening abnormality is cleft sternum which may leave the heart and great vessels unprotected. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
