Article Description

Abstract: It has recently been shown that predictions of the Rolie-Poly model—a leading constitutive equation for the nonlinear rheology of well-entangled polymers—can exhibit thermodynamically inadmissible behavior in reversing flows. In this work, we follow up on a suggested “regularized Ianniruberto-Marrucci” correction that restores both thermodynamic consistency and smooth relaxation kinetics. We identify and explain scaling relationships in the regularization error and produce a heuristic for estimating suitable values of the regularization parameter.
