Article Description

Development and application of new expedient aluminum-based light alloys are a key issue in current material science. In this study measurements are presented for the thermophysical properties of liquid Al-7Si, AlSi7Mg, and AlSi8Cu3 (mass%) alloys, which are the most utilized casting alloys in the aluminum industry. Experimental data with respect to the density, viscosity, and the electrical and thermal conductivities have been determined in a wide temperature range, and corresponding fit relations have been derived. Comparisons with already published data and scaling relations available in the literature are given. © 2009 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
