Article Description

Despite the progress and new developments of treatment options and methods, reconstruction of brachial plexus lesions remains challenging, with different courses and results. One explanation for these difficulties is the complex patterns of injury for which complete reconstruction of the brachial plexus cannot be achieved. Therefore, the reconstructive algorithm for such cases indicates the different muscle groups that are very important for reconstruction. Doubtless, the biceps brachii is one of the leading muscles in this hierarchy, since this muscle is responsible for elbow flexion. This work compares the results and postoperative courses of 54 patients, all reconstructed using different methods for the biceps brachii muscle. © 2012 Springer.
