Article Description

Entrapment of the left renal vein between superior mesenteric artery and aorta is known as nutcracker phenomena, while nutcracker syndrome is association of symptoms with this anomaly. It may cause variety of symptoms including abdominal pain. The disease is underdiagnosed; careful search on cross-section angiography helps in making the diagnosis. Mild symptoms may resolve spontaneously, while intolerable symptoms may need intervention.
