Article Description

The multiple-scattering cluster (MSC) theory for the near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) has been formulated in this paper. We have applied the MSC theory to the CO molecule and the HCOO-Cu(110) system, determined the CO bond length and found the hydrogen-carbon scattering resonance existing in the carbon K -shell NEXAFS spectrum.
