Book Chapter Description

Kinin was first isolated from the Madeira cockroach Leucophaea maderae through its ability to induce hindgut contraction. Invertebrate kinins mostly exert myotropic activity observed extensively in various invertebrates. Kinins also regulate diuresis, feeding, and several insect biological processes. The kinin family shares C-terminal amidation with a pentapeptide motif (Phe-X-X-Trp-Gly-NH 2 ).
