Studies from Federal Technological University of Parana Describe New Findings in Building and Construction [A Study of Polyurethane Waste Composite (Pur) and Recycled Plasterboard Sheet Cores With Polyurethane Foam for Acoustic Absorption]

2023 JUL 19 (NewsRx) -- By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Daily Real Estate News -- Research findings on Building and Construction are discussed

Review Description

Urban sustainability issues in buildings have become more prominent in waste recycling and noise control studies. This work aimed to produce and characterize the composition of polyurethane foam residues and recycled plasterboard sheet cores for acoustic absorption. The mechanical properties of ABNT NBR 16831 (2020) for transverse direction 160 N and longitudinal direction 400 N have been followed. The morphology has a porosity of 47.45% due to the large number of small open pores with relevant sound absorption coefficients in all frequencies compared to the original waste and the commercially-available mineral lining. The experiment resulted in a mechanical energy absorption composite at frequencies 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz with the potential to improve acoustic comfort.
