Article Description

In this paper, we have designed an efficient nanowire array to improve and increase the amount of light trapped in nanostructured photovoltaic devices. The proposed solar cell benefits from inclined core-shell nanowires. The two structures of inclined nanowires (INWs) and vertical core-shell nanowires (VCSNWs) have been compared with the proposed structure in terms of the light absorption. An optimized solar cell can be obtained by examining the effect of design factors such as core-shell material, the angle of inclination and the core diameter. The results show that the absorption, short circuit current and efficiency are improved in the proposed designs. While the current density of the vertical nanowire solar cell is 33.1 mA/cm 2, by adding the core and the inclination, it has been improved to 40.97 mA/cm 2 and after finding the best core diameter and inclination angle it raised to 42.93 mA/cm 2. The proposed nanowire array design can improve the performance of any other solar cell designs based on nanowires.
