Review Description

Carbon monoxide (CO) sensors are one of the successfully commercialized products in the field of sensing analysis. They play a crucial role in ensuring industrial production and personal safety. Despite the success of commercial products, the sensing performance of CO has been further improved in the development of nanotechnology. In this review, we introduce CO sensors. The two main types of CO sensor products are based on semiconductor sensing strategies and voltammetric sensing strategies. We analyze the role played by nanotechnology, including the development of nanomaterials and nanofabrication techniques, in these two types of sensors. The sensitivity, anti-interference performance, and detection temperature of CO sensors can be improved by the integration of nanotechnology. These changes make CO sensors more intelligent, smaller in size, and applicable to more scenarios. The selection of different nanomaterials can be based on the growth rate, and the choice of different assembly techniques can also provide some help.
