Article Description

The corrosion inhibition effect of 1-Dodecyl-3-Methyl-1H-Imidazolium Nitrate (DMIN) on copper (Cu) in 0.5 mol/L H 2 SO 4 has been studied. FTIR and XPS analysis was used to elucidate the bonding information of DMIN adsorption at the copper surface. SEM and AFM results show that DMIN can form an effective protective film on the Cu surface. Electrochemical testing found that at a temperature of 308 K and a concentration is 1 mM, the anti-corrosion efficiency of DMIN is 96.6% in sulfuric acid solution. DMIN further demonstrates excellent corrosion inhibition efficiency on copper in a temperature range of 298 K to 308 K. Quantum chemistry results show that DMIN can exhibit high quality anti-corrosion ability. Molecular dynamics simulation data show that the adsorption of DMIN onto the Cu surface adopts a parallel configuration. The adsorption of DMIN at the Cu interface was also found to obey the Langmuir adsorption model. DMIN has the characteristics of trace and high efficiency for copper corrosion inhibition.
