The study of network traffic capacity is of significant importance, and it has received increasing attention across various scientific disciplines. In this paper, the improved local routing (ILR) strategy is utilized to enhance network traffic capacity. In the context of current routing strategies and network structures, packets can be transmitted along either the most efficient paths or the shortest paths. By optimizing the combination of nodes' degree centrality and betweenness centrality to bypass hub nodes, the ILR strategy can reasonably distribute the traffic load. According to simulation results, the ILR strategy significantly enhances network traffic capacity and shortens average path length, surpassing the performance of the effective routing strategy (ERS). Furthermore, the findings indicate that networks employing the ILR strategy exhibit strong robustness against both random and deliberate attacks.
