Article Description
A (4 + 2)-cyclization of benzofuran derived oxa-dienes with malononitrile was established, and benzofuranopyrans with potential antitumor activity were synthesized in generally good yields (up to 85 %). This reaction not only has confronted the challenges in developing (4 + 2)- cyclization involving benzofuran derived oxa-dienes, but also provides an atom-economic method for the construction of biologically important benzofuranopyran frameworks.
