Article Description
Two undescribed neo -clerodanes ( 1 and 2 ) and a novel tiliifolane ( 3 ) diterpenoids, were isolated from the leaves and flowers of Salvia pennellii. Wirikutin ( 1 ) and 15- epi -wirikutin ( 2 ) were isolated as a C-15 epimeric mixture containing a 5-hydroxyfuran-2( 5H )-one moiety in the side chain of the neo -clerodane framework. Wixarikolide ( 3 ) was isolated as a Δ 3(20) derivative of tiliifodiolide. The structures of compounds 1 / 2 were deduced through the analyses of their MS spectrometric, and the 1D/2D NMR data. The structure of 3 was determined directly by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The PTP1B inhibitory activity of compounds 1 / 2 was assayed.
