Article Description
PET and SPECT are useful adjuncts to MRI and CT scanning in presurgical estimations of brain tumor grade and in noninvasive differentiation tumor necrosis from recurrence. Thus, they can aid patient management. PET provides early assessments of metabolic and physiologic changes in brain tumors following treatment and monitors drug delivery to tumor. The ability to acquire this information may lead to more effective brain tumor treatment protocols.
