Article Description
The frail elderly individual with disease requiring surgery presents a unique challenge to the geriatrician. Coexisting medical disease and limited functional capacity often make surgical risk unacceptable in this population. This article reviews recent advances in medical alternatives to major surgery applicable to the frail elderly.
