Article Description

Corrosion inhibition of C-steel in 2 N H 3 PO 4 solution using thiosemicarbazide (TSC) and 4-phenyl thiosemicarbazide (PTSC) at different concentrations was investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The presence of these compounds in the solution decreases the double layer capacitance and increases the charge transfer resistance. Potentiodynamic polarization studies were shown that the investigated compounds are mixed type inhibitors. The effect of temperature on corrosion inhibition has been studied and thermodynamic activation parameters were calculated. The inhibition was found to increase with increasing the inhibitor concentration and decreases with rise in temperature. The adsorption of these compounds on C-steel surface has been found to obey Langmuir ’ s adsorption isotherm.
