Article Description

Bovine-derived hydroxyapatite (BDHA) is commonly used in treating alveolar bony defects. There is lack of agreement in the literature as to its rate of degradation in vivo, and little is known about its solubility in vitro, which is relevant to the mechanism of degradation of calcium phosphate biomaterials in general. Therefore, this study was undertaken to measure the effective solubility isotherm of BDHA using the established solid-titration method and to identify the equilibrium solid phase. © 2009 American Chemical Society.
